First American Bank - Responding to our communities by supporting small businesses

April 14, 2020

First American Bank has obtained approval in just over one week from the Small Business Administration (SBA) for over 600 loans in excess of $123,000,000. On Friday, April 3rd the Small Business Administration (SBA) released the Final Interim Rule on the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) in response to the flailing economy, which was derailed by COVID-19.

These loans have been approved and are already being funded to assist the small businesses that help fuel our local communities by paying taxes, providing jobs and by donating to local charities. As we move through this unprecedented crisis, First American will continue listening to our customers and providing solutions to their needs.

As a local independent community bank with lenders and employees in touch with our customers we can quickly respond to the needs of small business owners. We know our markets and the industries in our communities – oil and gas, hotels, apartments, farms, dairies and ranches.

Please contact us today if you are a small business in need of financial assistance through the Small Business Administration. We are here to help.

A message from our CEO

April 3, 2020

Dear First American Bank customers,

We wanted to update you on the status of what we are doing to help you through these unprecedented times. Your First American team is working quickly and responsibly to understand and react to the programs introduced through the Small Business Loan Administration to help keep businesses healthy and to get employees back on payroll. In the interest of keeping you abreast of the latest information, which changes multiple times each day, we are sharing the following:

• Customers can go directly online to SBA to apply for the Economic Disaster Injury Loan, which is essentially a $10,000 grant

• We have taken and will continue to take loan applications from our customers for the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loans

• We have begun receiving SBA approval on these applications although SBA systems have not be built out to accommodate the volume of these requests and the process is very slow at this point

• SBA has not issued guidance on how to document & funds these loans at this time

• First American Bank is in a very strong capital and liquidity position to be able to fund these requests

• The media, politicians and other interested parties continue to share information on this program without knowing the mechanics of how the loans will be documented and funded

We are very proud of our history of being responsive to our business customers and our communities and will continue to work hard during the coming days and weeks to facilitate getting employees and employers back to work!

Thank you for your confidence in us.

Congress has just passed the “CARES” act to provide key financial relief measures for consumers and businesses affected by COVID-19. We are working through the program to understand how we can effectively help our customers. For more information and to apply for programs, contact SBA.

The circumstances surrounding COVID-19 are rapidly changing and First American Bank’s highest priority remains the protection and wellbeing of our employees, customers and communities while continuing to serve your banking needs.

We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
