Our History

As one of the oldest community banks in New Mexico, we have proudly served our customers for more than a century. We were chartered in Artesia, where our corporate headquarters remains today.

... on November 24, we opened our doors in Artesia to serve our first customers.

... we began offering Trust Services.

... we moved outside of our home town and opened our second location in Hobbs.

-2007 ... during these years we experienced tremendous growth by opening branches in Las Cruces, Roswell, Lovington, and Alamogordo.

... we opened a second branch in Roswell and a new branch in Chaparral with a post office as well as a mortgage loan office in Rio Rico, AZ.

... our expansion continued with a data, operations, and mortgage office in Las Cruces.

... two locations were acquired in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho.

... we opened our third branch in Albuquerque and were named by the Small Business Association (SBA) as "National Community Rural Lender of the Year."

... a loan office in Carlsbad and mortgage office in Ruidoso were opened. On November 24, we celebrated 110 years of serving New Mexico as a premier community bank.

... three locations in Grant County were converted to First American Bank and we reached 1 billion dollars in assets!

... a full service state-of-the art branch welcomed customers in Carlsbad.

... in May, we were again recognized by the Small Business Association (SBA) in New Mexico as "Community Rural Lender of the Year."
